Here are answers to some questions that people may have about TECENTRIQ + Avastin® (bevacizumab):

About hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)

HCC, or hepatocellular carcinoma, is a type of cancer that starts in the liver. HCC is the most common type of liver cancer.

Immunotherapy is a type of treatment that helps the immune system find and fight the cancer. It may also affect healthy cells. TECENTRIQ is a type of immunotherapy.

About TECENTRIQ + Avastin

TECENTRIQ is a medicine that may treat certain cancers by working with your immune system. TECENTRIQ can cause your immune system to attack normal organs and tissues and can affect the way they work.

TECENTRIQ + Avastin is approved as a first-line treatment for a type of liver cancer called hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) when it has spread or cannot be removed by surgery.

Your immune system helps your body fight off sickness and diseases. The immune system searches through the body for anything that looks like sickness. Once the immune system finds any form of sickness, it can attack it.

In cancer, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cancer cells (the sickness) can hide from your immune system, using a substance called PD-L1. PD-L1, also called programmed death-ligand 1, is a protein found on the skin of many cells. It can affect the immune system’s ability to see and attack abnormal cells. Sometimes, PD-L1 helps your cancer cells go unnoticed. When your immune system does not see cancer cells, it can’t do its job. TECENTRIQ blocks PD-L1 to help your immune system see and attack your cancer. TECENTRIQ may also affect normal cells.

TECENTRIQ is a type of immunotherapy. That means it helps the immune system see some of the cancer cells that are hiding. Find out more about How TECENTRIQ Is Thought to Work.

Your healthcare team will give TECENTRIQ + Avastin with an intravenous or “IV” line. This means a bag of each medicine is given in your vein, one after the other. You will hear this process referred to as an “infusion.” Learn more about How TECENTRIQ Is Given.

TECENTRIQ + Avastin is given every 3 weeks. Your healthcare team will decide how long you may be on treatment. If TECENTRIQ + Avastin is working for you, they will likely continue the treatment. They may stop or switch medicines if your disease gets worse or if treatments can’t be tolerated.

The most common side effects of TECENTRIQ when used in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with Avastin are high blood pressure, feeling tired or weak, and too much protein in the urine. Please see the possible serious side effects below in the Important Safety Information.
